Is Possible

About

Affordable Housing in Texas is a newly formed 501C3 in the state of Texas. We use the business model called a Community Land Trust (CLT). This business model is the only one that currently guarantees that a home or apartment stays affordable in perpetuity.

Community Land Trusts first came on the scene in 1969 in Georgia. Their popularity is slowly gaining momentum throughout our country currently numbering nearly 300. Affordable Housing in Texas is the only CLT located in Texas Hill Country.

Our inaugural years involve three lots of land in two counties – Burnet and Llano. Four units are planned.

Our homes will be modest. Safe, small (not tiny) and incorporating as much repurposed & earth-friendly material as possible.

Homes & Land

We are currently constructing two units in Llano County: a 2/2 unit that will be available for purchase and a single room occupancy unit with 320 square feet of living space that will be a rental.

The State of Affordable Housing

Texas

The number of available affordable units In Texas for every 100 low-income household is only 25.

The Rest of the Country

Across the United States, for extremely low-income households, there are 33 units available per every 100 households.

We NEED You!

If you are committed, excited about supporting or interested in affordable housing throughout Tx. Hill Country, please join us.

There are several ways to get involved:

Volunteer
We plan to begin hosting work days each month soon. Tasks will vary, but examples of what we need help with range from painting to framing to installing windows, landscaping and laying floors. We also have clerical tasks that we always need help with.

Donations
Whether it is a piece of land, a home, cash, stock, building supplies or materials or a donor advised fund (DAF) gift - THANK YOU for thinking of us. Click here to be taken to our donate page or fill out the form if you would like us to call you.

Governance / Committees
As a tax-exempt organization, we are required to have a Board of Directors. As a Community Land Trust, our bylaws require that ⅔ of our board be comprised of people who live in CLT trust owned lands and people from the community. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please fill out the form below and we will be in touch shortly.
